Esta presentación/plática analizará el uso de medios digitales (redes sociales, portales de Internet, sistemas manejo de información, mapas en Internet y sistema de visualización de reportes) para fomentar y fortalecer la participación ciudadana planteando la posibilidad (y primeros indicios) de que en sociedades de uso intensivo de herramientas tecnológicas las instituciones sociales y de gobierno pueden habilitar sus acciones a través del diálogo e interacción con la sociedad. Se analizarán casos de uso de mapas para contextos electorales, de desastres naturales, emergencia, recuperación del tejido social y participación ciudadana. También, se analizará la evolución de los portales de Internet en su vinculación con la sociedad en ámbitos de ONGs, Derechos Humanos, trabajo social, transparencia de gobierno y rendición de cuentas.
